RACINE COUNTY WISCONSIN

AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING ON PRIVATE ROADS AS PUBLIC SAFETY IS ADVERSELY AFFECTED

 

The Town Board of the Township of Waterford, at its regular and duly noticed monthly meeting does

hereby ordain as follows:

 

               WHEREAS, the Town Board recognizes that services such as rescue, fire and police are essential

to the peace, comfort and wellbeing of the electors, property owners and the public in general and,

               WHEREAS, for example only, the parking of vehicles on Fir Lane and Bark Lane so as to allow

the public to enjoy ice fishing can and has caused the diminution and the ability of providing these

essential services as the roadway becomes too congested so as to create a real danger that the

above services could not be provided in a timely and safe matter,

               NOW THEREFORE, the Town Board does hereby ordain that there shall be no parking on

private roads such as Bark and Fir Lanes.

               The Town of Waterford Police Department is charged with the duty of enforcing this

Ordinance, using its discretion as to whether or not an initial warning be provided to those so

parking in violation of this ordinance.

               In the event a citation is issued, the forfeiture shall be not be greater than $100.00

with failure to pay the same on or before the initial appearance in the Town Municipal Court

and with no extension given.by the Court, the prosecuting attorney or the Town police.

               Further, in the event the abutting property owner consents, No Parking signs may

be placed by the Town off the roadway but in front of said property owner’s home

               Dated and adopted this 11th day of January, 2021, to take effect upon posting/publication as

required by law.
